Care Guide
Planting. The thing that makes Tillandsias popular as houseplants is their versatility! No soil is needed for planting, so you have the creative freedom to come up with how you'd like to display your Air Plant. You don't even necessarily have to plant them in or attach them to anything, you can just pop them on a shelf and leave it at that! However, if you're struggling to come up with an idea, try mounting them to some bark or even a pinecone, or attach them to a pretty shell. The sky is the limit!
Environment. Air Plants prefer warm climates - most Air Plants hail from humid regions or desert-like climates and are therefore not the biggest fans of the cold. Although they enjoy the heat, they need to be kept out of direct sunlight. A little bit of soft, morning sun is okay, but anything beyond that and you risk burning your beautiful baby to a crisp!
Lighting. Despite Air Plants being shade lovers, they still require a high amount of indirect light. They will tolerate darker areas, but definitely do best with plenty of bright, indirect light.
Watering. Water your Air Plant once a week by misting or submersion. If the foliage of your Air Plant is smooth, they tend to prefer being submerged in water and then left to dry out. Whereas if the foliage is 'fuzzy' or 'hairy' in appearance misting is the better option - the fuzzier varieties tend to be more susceptible to rot!
