Planting. Bleeding Heart Vines need to be planted in rich, well-drained soil when planted in the garden. If planted in a pot or container they will need a well-balanced potting mix with a decent amount of porosity to prevent waterlogging. Giving it a good fertilise in spring just before it blooms will help with healthy growth and vibrant flowers.

Environment. Keeping this plant in a warm, shaded environment will garner the best results. It does not appreciate the cold and will need to be protected from frost during the winter months.

Lighting. This plant prefers a nice shady position with plenty of bright, indirect light. It will, however, tolerate full sun if it's not too harsh. The more sun it receives though, the more water it will require. In the garden, it's suited to positions shaded by taller plants or under balconies and gazebos. Indoors it will need a lot of consistent, bright light.

Watering. When the top layer of soil is dry, you know it's time to water your Bleeding Heart Vine! These climbers prefer moist soil, but do not enjoy being waterlogged! Make sure to have adequate drainage to prevent overwatering.
